There isn't a day that goes by where I don't think of all of my wonderful friends at home in Canada. As I adventure around the world doing whatever I will do I just want you all to know that I will be thinking of you each step of the way. You all have impacted my life in some way, and I will never forget the memories that we have. You all mean so much to me and I feel so special to have you all in my life.

Byron Bay

Yesterday Line, Kait, Michele and I headed up to Byron Bay, which is about 1.5 hours south of us, for a little day adventure!

On the way we stopped at my new favourite place, which is called Raw Energy to have breakfast. Kait introduced me to this place and I would eat there everyday if I could. The menu consists of exotically blended fresh, pure fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies. It’s so fresh and yummy!

We all had the acai breakfast bowl that is a smoothie with acai berries, passion fruit, blueberries, strawberries, muesli, and anything else yummy. It’s the best breakfast I have ever had!

Byron is cutest little town in the whole world! Everyone there is so laid back, and just loving life. There were heaps of small little shops with so many interesting little things in there. It was hard for me to resist buying everything I saw!

For thousands of years Aboriginal people came to the Bay to swap stories, find marriage partners and trade goods. They called it Cavvanbah.

We went up to the Lighthouse where the views were unbelievable! The white lighthouse and the blue waters were absolutely stunning. We walked along the lookout to the most eastern part of Australia main land.  We met an older man who was happy to sit and take pictures of us jumping at the lookout. I can’t get over how nice and kind hearted the majority of people are in Australia, anyone would do anything for anyone it seems.

After the look out we headed to Kait’s cousins house for dinner. Her cousin is so incredibly interesting and very spiritual. She read all of our tarot cards gave us all “Daily Divinity Cards” you place these cards in a small bowl and draw one everyday and it has a word on it. Today my word was courage. As far as the tarot cards went it was amazing what she knew about each of us by reading the cards. My tarot card reading was completely dead on it was crazy!

the first week

My first week in Australia has been nothing short of amazing! I love everything about this place so much, the laid back lifestyle is just my thing! "Cruzie" as they say!
Seeing Michele has been amazing, I can't believe that it had been 10 months since I had seen her and once I saw her it was like we hadn't spent a day a part.
I may need to be dragged home at some point -- she was right. Once you come to Australia you love it and never want to leave! Sorry Mom & Dad!
In my first week of being here...
I met my new "flatmate" Line! She is from Norway, she's is great, I love her!
Kait, Me, Line
I have landed at job at Hard Rock Cafe, which I am super pumped about! Tonight is my first night!
My new friend Drake and I rented a moped and went to the Currumbin Wildlife Centre -- I got to feed and pet a kangaroo, see koala bears and dingos. The dingo eating a baby business is actually a law suit here!

Kait and I went on a pretty hilarious moped ride last night down the coast! Driving on the "wrong" side of the road is quite different. I may have gone on the wrong side, which would be the right side for me, a couple of times...I did make it out alive. There were times where I think we should have pulled of to the side of the road because we were laughing so hard!

I have had a taste of the Australian night life and its amazing just as I thought! Thursdays are ladies night where ladies drink for free, and the majority of the clubs/bars are open until "late" as they say here. Late would be about 4 or 5am! Just my scene!
Weather wise it has been okay... Seeing as it is the dead of winter here and we are still able to wear shorts most days I think I can handle that. In the middle of September it will start to warm up and summer will hit!
So Mom, I know you have been waiting for this update, so here it is!
Love from Australia xo

i made it!

After a 5 hour flight to Vancouver, a 2 hour stop over in Vancouver, a 15 hour flight to Sydney, a 4 hour wait in Sydney, and an hour flight to the Gold Coast I have made it! What a journey it was but I can already tell that it will be well worth it!

After 10 months I finally got to see Michele, it was so amazing! Who ever knew that we would end up on the other side of the world together! There was defiantly tears in our eyes when we saw each other for the first time!

I have arrived at my new home, Chevron Renaissance North Tower, and oh my god it is beautiful! I am 2 blocks from the beach and right in the middle of all the action here, defiantly my kind of spot to call home!

The journey of a thousand steps begins with a single step!

Packing

What a job packing can be, and to pack what you think you will need for a year away from home. Going through all of my drawers deciding what to take and deciding what to leave behind, there have been some pretty tough decisions that I have had to make. All I know is that everything I want to take with me has to fit in my 70L pack. In the beginning when I first picked up my pack I thought that I would be able to fit everything in it. As I started packing I soon realized that 70L isn't that big at all!
All I can say now is "have backpack, will travel"
What an adventure this is going to be :)

New Beginnings

As of August 16th 2010 I am going to be flying to Australia to start travelling the world to pursue my dream.

My very good friends, Kait Gray and Michele Neumann, are the reason I chose to start my journey in Australia first. They are both living in Australia at the present time and have both sent me post cards temping me with the beauty that Australia has. Since I'm now finished my schooling I thought that I should do my traveling while I am young and have no ties, and just be the free sprit that I am.

I will be living in Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast in Queensland. I have an apartment lease with Kait that expires in January, after that I will then decide where my next adventure will take me.

I have no set plans as of now, I am just going to see where my adventures take me and decide what I'm going to do when an opportunity arises.

I am so thankful of the support that my family and friends have given me on my adventure across the world. I am going to miss you all so much!

This blog is simply for the interest people have in me as to where I am and what I am doing while I am away. So I will try to blog as much as I can and try to keep you all in the loop somehow!

Just remember to always live your life and have no regrets.

Peace Love & Happiness
