Walkabout Lodge

So I have been in Gove for 3 days now. The first 2 days were so long, I had really nothing to do. I went on a tour with my manager and he showed me and Victoria some sights, that occupied about 2 hours of time. Yesterday I went for a swim in the water hole with Tony, that occupied another 2-3 hours. Other then that I have been doing nothing but reading pretty much. I have spoken with other staff members and they said if you don't drink there is nothing to do. Well I'm to cheap to spend my hard earned money on drinking.

I started working today. I worked in the Tavern which is so disgusting. The counters are rotting, everything is rusty and a pile of garbage smells better then this place. The local cliental is 95% Aboriginals that stink of 16 day old sweat. I almost had to tell one to go home and shower using soap and then to come back. The other 5% is dirty miners who claim that they are unmarried when they are mining.

I finally got the internet today! This will help occupy some of my time; looking for new jobs, researching different places in Australia and travel plans.

This has been one of the best experiences I have had in Australia, such an eye opener, if I can do this I can do anything. If I can live and work in these conditions then I can do anything pretty much.

Another angle of the beautiful 5 star resort.

Anyone care for a dip in the green algae filled pool?
